We provide specialist advice on matters at the Police Station, Magistrates’ Court, Crown Court and Court of Appeal (Nationwide). We fully understand the worry and anxiety of having to pay for solicitors/barristers .
So listen, to our promise to you
We pride ourselves on our transparency rules when it comes to costs and will break this down for you during every key stage of the proceedings. We do not believe in hidden costs, as we feel strongly about being honest and clear from the very outset. This is so we can work together as a team and build a trusting relationship.
Therefore, we do offer to advise and represent all our clients on a fixed fee agreement, if they are unable to meet the hourly rate. Either way we will sit down with you and discuss payment options so that it works out best for you and you are fully satisfied.
Please note: This will be based upon the type of case and service our clients require. The cost of the case will depend upon the type of case, number of offences, the amount of preparation work involved. Furthermore, all prices exclude VAT.
All preparation and advocacy work is carried out by the director/supervisor, who will have direct conduct of the case.
Representation at the police station, this will cover the initial consultation, disclosure given by the third party (Police, NCA, Courts), the advice given at the police station. Preparation of the case and advice on defences. Please note the above fee does not cover disbursements (including travel).
Further all police stations attendances are on a private basis only.
Excluding disbursements.
First appearance (this is a single hearing to determine the pleas to be entered, for example guilty or not guilty). Informing you as to the court procedure so that you know what to expect on the day of your hearing. No surprises.
Providing advice on the sentencing options available at court.
We try to ensure most cases are dealt with at this stage to reduce the stress and cost of having to come back to court. However, if a not guilty plea is entered the matter will be adjourned for a trial.
In some cases, the courts are unable to conclude a matter during the first appearance.
They may require further information from the probation services and therefore will adjourn the case to another date for sentence. In these circumstances the fixed fee will be considerably reduced given that most of the preparatory work has already been done.
Excluding disbursements. VAT at 20%
If the case is disputed the matter will then be listed for a trial, this will depend on the complexity and the length of the case.
For a half day trial - £1500.00
For a full day trial - £2000.00
Please note that in some cases experts are required to prepare reports and give evidence to the court on your behalf. Expert fee's vary from case to case.
We will of course get the best quote for you in advance.
Excluding disbursements.
If I win my case can I claim back my costs? ( I was found not guilty/case was discontinued)
In many cases when we are successful, we will make an application for costs to the court, most commonly referred to as a 'Defence Cost Order'. Essentially, we will write to the court with a breakdown of the fees and costs you have incurred to defend yourself. The court will make an assessment and you will be entitled to recover the money you have spent.
